Lipi is a vernacular language news aggregator from the house of Foonza Media Pvt Ltd, a media and technology company, based out of Bangalore, India.
Kerala, a state in India, is a bizarre anomaly among developing nations, a place that offers real hope for the future of the Third World. Though mostly a land of paddy-covered plains, statistically Kerala stands out as the Mount Everest of social development; there’s truly no place like it. – Author and Environmentalist Bill McKibben
The Lipi Story
The Lipi story is inspired from the Kerala story.
A story hard to ignore even if one tries to, yet deeply inspiring even if you try to shrug it off.
Just consider this – the economy of Kerala is the 11th-largest state economy in India with ₹8.76 trillion (US$120 billion) in gross domestic product and a per capita GDP of ₹199,000 (US$2,800). Kerala has the lowest positive population growth rate in India, 3.44%; the highest Human Development Index (HDI), 0.784 in 2018 (0.712 in 2015); the highest literacy rate, 93.91% in the 2011 census; the highest life expectancy, 77 years; and the highest sex ratio, 1,084 women per 1,000 men.
Charged and inspired by all that the state has strived hard and what it now stood for, we wanted to create a world-class online reading experience for the well read, erudite reader base of Malayalees (as the people of this state are called). We were committed to understanding the sensibilities and preferences of our target audience as well as the right wavelength that would connect and engage with them.
We found there was only one perfect way to get it right.
We just went ahead and mobilised a team of all Malayalees to work on this project. Everything from the naming, branding, product, UI/UX and development was done by a team of Malayalees.
So Lipi is truly a product crafted with love, from Malayalees, for the Malayalees worldwide.
